    Thanks for the attachment. My Desktop had the Installer, but Gayle's HP Laptop didn't. Now I have two machines looking like yours. Hope this works, I got enough to do without daily checking for Restore Points to Delete. Enjoy the rest of your weekend @Eagle51.

    Yea, that makes two of us.

    The reg hack appears to have worked ... NO Windows Module Installer restore point was created today ... However, I won't be convinced this is an actual fix/workaround, until I've tested it for a couple more days.

    Note:
    1. FWIW ... The SR Task I had disabled yesterday ... got re-enabled today. Disabling it didn't stop these restore points from being created anyway, so I left it enabled.

    Defender has updated and no Restore Point today. I'll check it off and on today and see what happens. Like I said, Thanks.

    Just checked and I got a Restore Point right at two hours after the Defender Update this morning. The Registry Hack isn't the answer to this one. LOL, look out when tomorrow's CU hits!

    @Wiley Coyote ...
    I haven't had any restore points created since I did the reg hack yesterday, but we'll see what happens when the system runs those task sometime tonight.
    Yep, will be interesting to see what tomorrows CU brings and/or does with this issue/annoyance :)

    Note:
    1. Don't know if a reboot is required after the reg hack, but I did reboot PC's after doing it ... Did you ?
    2. Have you searched the registry for LimitSystemRestoreCheckpointing to see if it's still there in those 2 locations and set to 1?

    FWIW ... Today, I did a manual check for updates (Defender updated) and even ran the Defender Verification Task manually with no restore point being created.

    @Eagle51 I want to say I've booted twice since hacking, and I just checked and it's still intact like it's supposed to be.

    Desktop PC just ran all the defender task, etc and a restore point got created. I guess there is no stopping it, short of disabling System Restore

    Ran a manual Defender update a few minutes ago. We'll see if it creates one ahead of the scheduled CU today.

    When I was in The Insider Program , Defender used to update maybe 5 to 10 times a day now it is only maybe 2 or 3 and nothing much on the weekend. I quit using Restore Points when I installed MR. RS takes up valuable SSD disk space and is not reliable.

    Good morning JW. Since installing MR I've thought about disabling System Restore. Just don't know enough yet about what I'm doing with MR yet. Probably where I'll go before long.
