This whole thing is very strange. The WD Verification task ran on my Desktop and Laptop computers. On the laptop there was no Windows Module Installer restore point created. On the desktop it was created. None of this makes any kind of logical sense. I'll post back in a couple of days with more confirmations.

Well, the lack of a system restore point yesterday was indeed a fluke. Verification task ran a few minutes ago and bingo, a Windows Modules Installer restore point was set. Don't know why it didn't happen yesterday. Obviously, the Defender antimalware platform update is not a fix.

Same here... I have Restore points ON.

Updated to version 4.18.1809.2 (KB4052623) on Sep-25 and on Sep-26 I got a new Restore point by Windows Module Installer. So the new version does not change anything!

    Waiting....

Today a WMI restore point was created on my Laptop (and Desktop again.) Disabled WD verification tasks (again) on both computers. Was really hoping but not expecting that MS would have taken care of this idiodic problem. And also (of course) the WD Scan task still returns a result of (0x2).

New update rolled out today: Update for Windows Defender Antivirus antimalware platform - KB4052623 (Version 4.18.1810.5)

I'll give it another shot and leave the verification task enabled but I doubt this update will change the behavior.

Edit: That was quick! Back to disabled.

Same issue with Windows Module Installer restore point being created. Disabled the task again.

Did anyone ever enter a feedback for this? If so can they provide a link so we can up-vote the heck out of it and get this fixed.
