    I download it directly from Malwarebytes website, where I always download it. It's the paid version.

    Indeed. Either add it to exclusions, or get rid of that junk, meaning Malwarebytes.
    Yep, I'm beginning to think that the sainted Malwarebytes is becoming bloated and going in the wrong direction--particularly with the Ransomware module. Trying to do too much with a single app.

    I disagree! I don't believe that Malwarebytes is becoming bloated or going in the wrong direction.
    It's a great piece of software that's going in the right direction. It's flagging programs to prevent the click happy users that don't bother to read the download conditions or uncheck unwanted downloads. EasyUS as previously mentioned has been known to download unwanted programs, in the main, TuneUp Utilities, Open Candy Tool bar... MAMBAM makes the click happy folks stop and think before they click.

    EaseUS Partition Master installer, epm.exe is being flagged by Malwarebytes as a PUP. It contains OpenCandy which is used to install other, non-wanted software. It also blocks Outbound connection attempts to dpd.securestudies.com and is considered Riskware.

    I've uninstalled EaseUS Partition Master for now, even though I like and have used it in the past.
    Hi folks
    Even Minitool partition manager needs care when installing -- there's a popup for some A/V software -- just refuse to accept and then everything installs normally.

    I loathe systems that do this - and a lot of people if they just go click, click etc will miss these.

    The only reason I kept this piece of software is that it is actually a decent tool -- but I hate this "sneakerware" being bundled with install - so always READ CAREFULLY any popups even when installing decent software from their main site.

    Cheers

    @Chacecola

    That file you uploaded to VT is just the web installer. What happens when you launch that is shown below.

    You could argue that it's a false positive detection but it's incorrect to say the VirusTotal doesn't flag the program. However it no longer contains Open Candy.

    I am using the latest version, 16.5 and nothing shows on both MBAM and Norton. VirusTotal is clean, too.
    Where do you get the .EXE from?

    It's an old post. It used to come bundled with the now defunct OpenCandy malware.

    Also the files dropped by installer for the latest version do not flag up 100% clean on VirusTotal but the downloaded setup file does. It's once that is launched that it drops files with just a few detections on VirusTotal. Once installed it is clean.
