What does "DISMISS" mean in this Windows Defender Security Center box?

Hello Lee,
Usually, you could click on the "Dismiss" link to dismiss whatever actions were recommended without doing them.
I'm not sure why you would have "Dismiss" there with "No actions needed" though. Possibly just a glitch, but you can click/tap on the "Virus & thread protection" icon to verify if there are any current recommended actions available.
Possibly, but I wouldn't think you would have a green check mark if there were any actions available.
It might be the new Ransomware Data Recovery ... Check Virus & Threat Protection > Ransomware Protection and see if it shows Ransomware Data Recovery and is asking you to setup OneDrive.
Well I DO have Kaspersky KIS on full-time and have Defender set on Periodic Scanning (as a redundant backup)
When I click on the box (not on the "DISMISS"), I get this
and then I go below it to "Protection Updates" and manually update the newest definitions
I only fear that if I accidentally click on DISMISS I will lose that box, or it will be locked, etc., and won't be able to manually update definitions without using Systems Restore
Just curious and a bit confused, as you folks seem to also be

Usually you see DISMISS beneath something like a notice that Defender hasn't done a scan for a while and needs to do one. When that happens you are locked out of the box until you do something about it - either by clicking SCAN or DISMISS. Once you have dismissed the message you can get into that box as before.
Yes, it's odd to see 'dismiss' without an indication of what you are dismissing. I doubt if clicking it would have done any harm though, you'd be dismissing a 'non-event'. Probably just a glitch.Just curious and a bit confused, as you folks seem to also be
