Ask him what he would do if some plumber called and told him that they detected a leek i his kitchen faucet. Would he believe it ?
How would a leek get into the kitchen tap - maybe in a Welsh kitchen?

So true. I'll just continue with my approach saying something like this Thanks for letting us know we'll be glad to bring the computer to our local computer shop and then immediately hang up. Then follow-up with checking out the computer not knowing how far the user went along with whatever is going on even when they tell they haven't done anything to the computer. In addition I keep notes of how I help a user and they get a copy of the pertinent information. In cases similar to this thread a bolded statement as mentioned above is also included.
