Sounds like a scam, did you contact 'amazon' using a link in a search engine? Only use the Amazon contact info in your account...
I was kinda thinking the same thing
First contact Amazon via some phone number or link other than what's in the notice you've received. Most likely a scam in progress there.
More-then-likely a scam. MS does not contact people if they have a virus. I doubt that Amazon would do it either.
If you have doubts, call Amazon, not from any number listed on the pop-up, but the number found on their valid web page. Have the information ready so that you can report the origin E addy.
Same goes for phone calls informing you that your Windows license is about to expire, your system is infected, etc. Those are all attempts to get you to pay for a service not needed.
Be aware that for these "services" offered, they will insist, in most instances, a remote connection to your PC. This gives them the opportunity to leave some back door Trojans or viruses, not to mention they could go through your files & mine your personal data, passwords, bank account info, etc.
One case scenario, which I have seen recently fixing someones PC, if you decline to pay, they will leave a BIOS password on the system. Next time you reboot you will be greeted with a screen stating enter the password & a number to call. The one I worked on demanded $300 to fix the problem.
