Huge thank you for checking. I may definitely check out FortKnox then. Nothing to lose by trying it. It sounds like there might be some additional functionality in the paid version, but I'm not sure how they differ other than the auto updates.

With security products you have to be aware that the first thing Malware tries to do is to disable the defensive processes. Therefore most security systems will have processes to reactivate or even regenerate. services and sub-processes, most of these are simply scheduled tasks some systems also run other tasks on timers or other OS triggers to check that specific security processes are actually present and working correctly ...

Coincidently, many malware systems also use the same Scheduled task method to regenerate parts of their process load that simplistic anti-malware products remove so the malware keeps returning

This is one reason that you need specialist software to remove both security products and Malware

Personally I use an old version with just the firewall installed:

    Download Comodo Internet Security -

Here's what you need. No telemetry.Maybe uninstall and use the version instead and disable program updates.

    Scheduled tasks in this version.

How to Install Comodo Firewall | Gizmo's Freeware

I've used most free firewalls available but keep coming back to this one.
I'm getting "invalid attachment" from your attachment links.

In general it seems like a bad idea to keep using an outdated security program. So if I have to use an old version of Comodo to avoid unnecessary scheduled tasks, then to me it seems time to find another firewall.

Is there some way to put a script or batch file in my startup folder that will manually disable a specified task in the task scheduler each time the PC is rebooted?
Get Ccleaner Pro and see if some instances can disable at startup. In advanced startup.
