Appreciate it. But my mouse's left click isn't working after I got rid of a lot of spyware and virus. I have to click on the left button hard when I didnt have to before. Do you have an answer for this?

And I ran adwcleaner and rkill. They displayed these problems below. How can I remove them from my PC?

    PUP.Optional.Legacy C:\Users\Public\Documents\Downloaded Installers

That looks like ADWCleaner. Check off all the objects, then it will want to reboot. In the reboot process, it will clean those up, and display another results screen for you.

You can re-run ADWCleaner after to make sure they are gone.

I hope you meant to say you ran Rkill then AdwCleaner, it has to be in that order so that Rkill can stop any processes that would try to stop AdwCleaner working.

When AdwCleaner reports detections, it also offers a 'clean' button. Did you not use it?
    Hi Bree,

I actuallu ran AdwCleaner first then Rkill. I really didn't know the order it was supposed to be run. But I'll go ahead and run it in the order that you've outlined.

And yes, I used the clean button in AdwCleaner when I ran it that time.

I'll run it a 2nd time and will post results so you can see them. Thanks man.

Rkill doesn't clean anything, it's purpose is to kill malware processes that may try to stop any cleaners from running. The processes will return if you restart. Run Rkill then WITHOUT RESTARTING run your cleaner.

That's the problem with having two related threads, this one has not seen the full history. Apparently in addition to AdwCleaner...

    zbook said:
...There were attempts to remove the malware using:
    ESET
    Superantispyware
    Rkill
    Adaware
    etc.
Then to check to see if there was still malware these were ran:
    Bitdefender
    Kaspersky
The above displayed that there was still malware.
So to have a computer that is free from malware the best option at this time is a clean install.
If rescanning with all the above now shows the malware has been removed then you can be fairly certain you are now clean.

Ultimately though, if you want to be 100% certain the malware has gone a clean install is the only way. It's up to you whether being 99% sure is sufficient.

    Bree,

On occasion when I boot my PC, the icons in the tiles in the startup menu are gone. Heres what I mean. Take a look at the screenshot. In this case only the firefox and thunderbird icons are gone ion the tiles. Other than this my PC is ok. Is this alarm for concern? Should I clean install?

No, I would not be concerned, not if you have version 1803. It appears to be a bug in 1803 that should (I hope ) be fixed in a cumulative update soon. Others have reported this and I have seen it myself occasionally.

A quick way to restore the icon is to resize the tile. Yours are 'medium' at the moment. Resize to 'small' and the icon reappears, then you can resize back to 'medium'.
