Windows Defender Security Centre slow since 1803 update

Has anyone else noticed Windows Defender Security Centre taking a while to get information after boot up since 1803?

Yes. If you check local services, the startup type for Security Center is "Automatic Delay" while the startup type for Windows Defender Security Center is "Automatic". I believe we are fully protected when first turning on the device. The Windows Security Center information loads as soon as the "Automatic Delay" start for Security Center starts running.

    Thanks for the information, Crizal.

I came here to see if Windows Security Center had changed since I am now not getting the information on last scan etc. just like in the screenshot posted. AFAICT mine never shows that info.

Can the settings be adjusted to get it to work how it used to?

edit: It looks like they can not be changed. As I said my Security Center never gives me the information it previously did, even though both services mentioned are running, now that I am on 1803. It always just gives the generic message "See what's happening..." Another epic MS fail, break something that worked fine.

what kind of info on the last scan were you looking for?
click on virus & threat protection -> threat history and there's a bit at the bottom saying when the last scan was. chances are it's quick scan which is probably not all that useful...

my biggest issue is it keeps telling me my it admin has limited my access to certain stuff (except there's no it admin.. it's just a home machine XD)

eg.. settings -> update and security -> windows security - > then clicking on virus & threat protection shows me that warning pop up on top of the "at a glance" screen. however clicking on the other links from that settings page redirects to the correct pages just fine. i can even click virus & threat prot from the at a glance page and enter it just fine too.

i'm thinking it's to do with 3rd party av. but still.. weird.

I want to see the info that was previously there when you opened Windows Defender Security Center. You used to get a summary at the top where it now says "See what's happening..." There were three lines with it telling when the last scan was run, last health report and definition updates (I think). Now you have to dig to get that info.

Also when I open the Windows Defender Security Center on one computer the side menu shows, on another it is minimized with only the icons, which is how I prefer yet I can't figure out how to change it. Why the heck doesn't it behave the same on computers that are configured the same? Typical MS.

Like I said, MS changed the functionality, for the worse imo.
