Win10 1803 Fail - Needs Non-Existant McAfee Uninstalled
All:
Windows 10 is trying to update to version 1803 (3).
It is halting the update because "Some apps need to be uninstalled".
Specifically - McAfee Internet Security Suite.
I do not have, nor have I ever -intentionally- installed McAfee. I am running Norton Security Suite.
I went to the McAfee site, downloaded and ran MCPR. It ran to completion successfully and I restarted. Still no joy.
Here's the kicker - I went through this exact same issue during a previous major Win 10 upgrade. Microsoft and McAfee were of zero help. The only alternative was to do a complete OS reload from scratch (which was successfully completed). And now I'm running into it again.
I can only imagine there is still some McAfee fragment on my drive that is causing the trouble. My h/w configuration is:
- AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- GIGABYTE GA-AB350-Gaming 3 Motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
- MyDigitalSSD BPX 80mm M.2 PCI Express 3.0 x4 (PCIe Gen3 x4) NVMe MLC SSD (480GB)
- Running Win10 Pro 64-bit v.1709 build 16299.431
Does anyone have any idea how I can get around this without (a) ignoring Win10 updates and (b) reloading Win10 from scratch?
