Combinations of antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc..[need opinions]

So until now I've been using Windows Firewall+WD+MBAM+AdwCleaner, but lately I think this combo is getting a little dull and predictable.

What do you use or what are your suggestions? Doesn't matter if it's payed or not.

    Thanks!

You can still keep using your combo, just adding HitmanPro.Alert, for a little flavor, will do.

I find Norton and Malwarebytes are all I need. Both are the paid for versions they work well with each other which is a big Plus

I switched to Bitdefender free from WD and always have used Malwarebytes Premium. There are quite a few antivirus companies that use the Bitdefender engine/detection as part of their program. They use this for a reason. It is one of the best you can get and the impact on system resources is next to nothing. I cannot even tell I have it on my system because the impact is so light. The only slow down I have is from Malwarebytes and that is minimal for the protection it provides for ransomware and other things that an antivirus alone does not.

I have Viper, one of the AV with Bitdefender engine, and had no issues whatsoever. My systems are also scanned on a weekly basis with Emisoft...

Malwarebyte (MB) had been removed, when version 3.0 came out. The MB update slowed my W10 considerably, like added 2-3 seconds to MS Word starting up on a quad-core Intel CPU with SSD and 16GBs memory. Removed MB and never looked back, too bad I've renewed the licenses just prior to MB 3.0 coming out...

With the recommended security configuration of Windows, that should be a just fine, too much protection does slow the system down. Any issues, there's the daily image backup that takes 20-30 minutes to restore. I'd rather spend the money on backup solution that does not slow my system down, when I need it...

How do you get the ransomware protection option? Is that a new 1803 feature?

It is just a controlled folder access, since 1709, nothing to be excited about. It is just about changing permissions to access folders, you can change permissions and do it yourself (deny Users to write/modify and deny SYSTEM everything). It actually works, I tested it against wannacry, it failed to encrypt my files.
