    Clearing TPM question

My laptop keeps moaning at me about there being an issue with my tpm firmware. I have contacted HP and they said it is fine and as long as I have latest BIOS its ok. As part of the windows guidance it says after the "tpm update", clear the tpm. I would like to try this as it may clear up the message if it does in fact need clearing to complete the update from when I last did update the BIOS but I would need to do a backup and restore.

Can I just decrypt the drive, clear the TPM then encrypt it again?

Perhaps no one has an answer. I received a similar message on my Surface Pro 3. When I attempted to clear it, I got a warning message that was a little too scary for me, so I chose to tell it to ignore, or similar choice, Been over a week and I don't remember the exact message. I've had no ill effects from it. Wish I had more of an answer, but it's all I have. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I got that message on my Dell Venue Pro 11 hybrid tablet after the latest Skippy upgrade. Because it's a test machine, I allowed the changes to go through unhindered. Likewise, no changes in performance or behavior on my system, either. I think you're OK with this, but if you're actually using TPM on your system, you may want to check user forums from the maker and see if anybody else has tried it and run into problems before proceeding with the update.
