Actually, I have given up even scanning with malwarebytes as it has never detected anything that Defender did not pick up. That is not to say it will not of course.

Even when Defender was less advanced, it was only minor stuff that go through, worst being my chrome browser getting hijacked. A quick uninstall and reinstall usually sorted the issue. Of course, if Edge gets hijacked, not so easy.

That's a good tip about enabling Defender PUP protection...
    Thanks @Steve C
Yes, beats me why the settings for such a useful additional protection are only visible to Enterprise users....

    OK.
    • My professional opinion: All you need is Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, in addition to being careful (not open attachments from unknown senders, not reply to messages asking account credentials or other personal information, avoid pirate torrenting and warez sites, only install software from software maker's own site, and so on).

Actually, Defender can scan for and protect against malware/PUP/PUA too - it's just that the option is normally only available for Enterprise customers. It can however be enabled in any edition including Home, as I have done on mine.

Enable or Disable Windows Defender PUA Protection in Windows 10
It's in your top 10 Bree! Thanks for sharing with us this useful app. Another way to say <<Defender doesn't need a companion anymore>>.
