what if setup.exe is scanned safe

If virustotal.com scanned the file setup.exe safe does this mean the application installed by the execution of setup.exe (as single file) is also safe?

No, that just means the Setup.exe is safe that's all. Certainly not anything else. Setup.exe may install components from other sources.

The application was autorunremover.zip and contained only one file namely setup.exe.And the file setup.exe is free of infections on the site virustotal.com.I'm sure my pc was clean of infections because it's a new one.So the only infective source could be the internet during the installation I suppose.
Have you ever heard of autorunremover? This application scans the usb stick.I'm afraid it contains malware,keylogger,..because there was a sound at the end of the scan.
I've runned malwarebytes on c: and the usb stick but it found nothing.

Don't mis understand me.I don't mean that the scan of my usb stick indicates that my usb stick is infected but I mean that the autorunremover application has infected my laptop and maybe also my usb stick.

    Hi.
    I've never heard of this.
If you want to disable autorun to protect from USB infections, you can use Panda's USB Vaccine:
Download Panda USB and AutoRun Vaccine - MajorGeeks

    It's free.
If you want to check if your system is infected, run ADWCleaner:
    Downloads - AdwCleaner - ToolsLib

    Scan, then Clean and reboot.

    Thank you.
    That was the SCAN report.
    Code:
    ***** [ Registry ] *****

    PUP.Optional.Legacy, [Key] - HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Children\001\Internet Explorer\EdpDomStorage\openspeedtest.com
    PUP.Optional.Legacy, [Key] - HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Children\001\Internet Explorer\DOMStorage\openspeedtest.com
Now you have to run the CLEAN function to get rid of those.
You should be okay. But if you're looking to disable autoruns, use Panda's free USB vaccine - it's from a well-known AV company and trustworthy.

Malwarebytes Antimalware (with rootkit box checked), AVG, Avast, really any robust AV will detect them, as they are categorized as trojans/malware.

I have runned malwarebytes with rootkits option.I have runned eset online scanner. But my anti-virus is windows defender (I'm going to by kaspersky).I've done a full scan with windows defender. But can windows defender also detect malware (like keyloggers) because I've read windows defender look for spyware?
