    Getting rid of avast completely

I did some testing with spyware and antivirus programs some time ago, and some of the programs had issues being uninstalled. One of them was avast, and after uninstalling it, there's a program called avastui.exe that loads on startup, that i can't seem to get rid of again.

Solved by using avast's software uninstall utility, to get rid of it.

Download Avast Software Uninstall Utility should do the job. You may have to reinstall avast first and then use the tool to ensure you totally clean the system

The other option which is manual, but potentially more dangerous as you could remove the wrong thing, is to use Autoruns to find the startup for the Avast remnants

Iobit uninstall removed some virus issues by forcing them to be removed, this was a few years back. But as it's free, you might try that.

As a suggestion, you should do testing of this sort in a disposable VM machine.

That seems to have solved it. I also seem to have some problems getting rid of the avast folder from my computer. It says you need permission to perform this action, if i try to get delete it.

Will it allow you to rename it?

To get rid of Avast files and folders, you can try booting to a repair/recovery disk, then using the command line to extirpate that stuff. Always works for me, when local permissions won't oblige or allow themselves to be changed.

    I love Avast.
I have been using it for well over 10 years, back to the LCARS skin.
I hate the pop ups .... Buy .... Buy .... Buy.
They own AVG, McAfee licences their proprietary driver.
They have lots of money, they don't need to push the popup advertising.
Much better solution than Win Defender never the less, fewer FP's.
