Change Windows Defender Exploit Protection Settings in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

    Does this not mean:
Box not ticked- no override applies.
Box ticked, setting off - override applies, and the setting is off.
Box ticked, setting on - override applies, and the setting is on.

    E.g. in tutorial; Option 4, 4, 6th screenshot - shown on.

I kept the "On" thing out of the discussion to keep things simple.

As to your response, thank you, I don't know if that's what it means.

Thanks for the link but I ran into that thread during my "banging the heck out of teh google."

    Let me rephrase my inquiry:

Given, a system setting is On. (The only other choice is, well... Off.)*

For a program setting for that system setting, the Override is not ticked and you tick it.

Rephrased question: What else would that be than Off?

While we're at it, if the system setting is On, why tick the program Override and select On?

All that should be necessary is just the on-off slider OR just the override tick box, the latter's purpose seemingly to enable or disable the former. Between the two, in this construct, the tick box should be eliminated.

Much of this is rhetorical. Leave it to Microsoft to convolute the concept of on/off.

*I'm assuming there's no difference between the system settings "On by default" and "Use default (On)." Ditto for the same duality of Off.

Perhaps a new one is in order.
