    the only way is to resort to powershell, however it is unacceptable that in a month a fix has not been produced since this bug makes an entire module unusable

    The Windows Defender Security Center is the UI for Defender and named as the 'Windows Defender antimalware platform' in the updates. These updates are not part of the cumulative updates. They are quite separate and AIUI maintained by the Microsoft Windows Defender Team.
    Regular monthly updates are now being provided in addition to the standard performance updates. These monthly updates apply to Windows 10 Version 1607, Version 1703, and Version 1709.

    I know that at least one member of the Microsoft Windows Defender Team has registered here on TenForums, @jyim89. He is also active under the same name on the Microsoft Community forum, should you wish to make your feelings known. :)

    Thanks @Bree, i was struggling trying to understand the meaning of many phrases in Exploit protection settings, they are in "Italian" but they does not make sense;

    Please @jyim89 if you can and/or care ask to whom it may concern to have it translated from someone who can actually write in Italian; that is not Italian, it looks like and automatic translation was used.

    Kind regards.

    @roy111, the screenshots in Brink's tutorial show all the Exploit protection settings in English, that should help you navigate the "Italian" ones...
    Change Windows Defender Exploit Protection Settings in Windows 10

    This lists all the settings and describes what each one does.

    Yes thanks again Bree, because of the screen shots you pointed at I realized that something is really messed up with Exploit protection settings, at least if your system language is Italian; of course I'm not going to change anything for now since it seems really messed up.
    Thanks also for the useful link to exploit protection docs.

    All the best.

    i'm italian too and ATM EG is out of order (non toccare anzi nulla perchè rischi di fare danni, le mitigazioni sono sempre al loro posto e correttamente funzionanti specie quelle di sistema per quanto l'interfaccia dica l'opposto).

    I don't speak Italian, so I had to 'Google translate' the rest of that :)

    Yes, totally messed up. All the text is in the wrong place. A simple programing error has shuffled the table of text strings. I suspect the underlying code still works, if only you knew what you were clicking on!

    A monumental SNAFU - Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves

    Now fixed in Cumulative Update KB4089848 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.334 - Mar. 22

    Though seems MS was too embarrassed to admit their SNAFU in the list of 'Improvements and fixes'.

    Postscript: It appears from this post that those using the EN-US version were blissfully unaware of our problems.
