Liking Defender so far on 2 systems, almost ready to convert all systems to Defender, and not have to worry on updating to new Avast builds monthly, removing/reinstalling for issues at times, I just have to make sure would run well on 3rd system before i fully commit to using it fully

For standard Home use, Windows Defender is quite good.
Again, security updates for your OS and software is the MOST important of all.
AV nowadays is considered the lowest level of protection.
Keeping your system up to date would be the most top priority.

Second or first, is using common sense. Just don't browse to shady sites, or open emails that look suspicious and so on.

Install less programs. Only install apps that you use the most.

As for enterprises, I would still choose either McAfee VirusScan or Symantec Endpoint Protection.
Most because that they allow monitoring as opposed to Defender, which is not capable of monitoring.

Having that said, most 3rd party AV programs have security vulnerabilities themselves...

Yes, just like that, every now and than, specially after installing some program I scan with it and ADW Cleaner too, it also comes from Malwarebytes company. Just spent half an hour with both of them on my W7 installation. A simple game I found on some old CD made quite a mess. Installed 146 PuPs and bunch of advertisements that kept opening my browser and trying to download even more s*** along with free Avast.

You're going to get a long list of people's differing suggestions as to which AV is best. Do some research and watch various reviews on youtube like this channel.

Like with so many SW as well as HW, there's no "Best" AV, just what suits YOU best.
