    CountMike,
A very valid statement..I like other member's in here agree that the windows defender security center has 'vastly' improved over time.

I'm using WD only for more than a year now but backed up with Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner and assorted other programs of that nature. None of those other ones are resident but only used when something is suspicious or for occasional combing thru. MBAM works fine in conjunction with WD so it can be used in resident mode too for added protection no AV has.
Before any system backup to offline disk (best protection) I check system with WD, Mbam and some other programs to make sure that's clean.

Thinking might convert the last system over to Defender when i do the Spring Creators Update clean install on it, not sure if Avast uninstalls cleanly if i wished to remove it now or not. I've been using Avast last 16 years, one thing i don't really like nowadays, some systems aren't rebooted nightly if there doing tasks, anyhow Avast emergency updates then don't apply, unless run the Avast EMupdate manually as administrator then reboot lol.

I think Defender applies its program updates autoly without interruptions if i remember right

I've heard so much that Windows Defender is just not enough to protect my Windows 10 OS. That's what I originally have installed in my desktop but I've been led to believe that WD does not protect well against malware and such. Is this wrong?!
You cant beat Windows Defender in Windows 10 today. Now if you would have asked me that before Windows 10, (Windows 8, 7, XP, etc) I would have certainly recommended a 3rd party anti-virus. My favorite back in the day was Comodo anti-virus suite, because it was a very good anti-virus, had a free version and I like free.
