    What might that be?
Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) or PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications) as Microsoft prefers to call them.

Windows Defender performs well protecting my system.

But why can't they integrate PUP/PUA protection and eliminate the need for a reg file or power shell process ?

Microsoft, for some reason I cannot fathom decided it was only of interest to their Enterprise customers, managed centrally by their network administrators. See their documentation...

...The Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA) protection feature in Windows Defender Antivirus can identify and block PUAs from downloading and installing on endpoints in your network.

It's a shame, because it works just as well in 10 Home.

This is Defender PUA protection in action in Windows 10 Home...

Once that feature is introduced it's just a matter of maintaining signature data base.

I use Kaspersky Free and Malwarebytes Premium and I find they work very well together, Windows Defender is not very good in comparison and is best avoided!

    Hi,
Not sure it's even possible to disable windows defender in win-10
And if there were I'm sure 10 would be very cranky if one did disable it :)

Installing another AV usually disables WD although in newest windows it remains at least passively.

    Hi,
    Yes passively lol :)
Edge is seriously intertwined with WD and so is 10 in general
It will bug the hell out of you to disable each and every item in defender
And some will not respond to disable like smart screen filter and another one that escapes me at the moment :/
