More Bad UK Press Stories about Kaspersky
Our press is full of stories today like this one http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ian-spies.html
Also, Barclays pulled their free offer of Kaspersky antivirus software a few weeks ago without giving a clear reason. I guess Kaspersky's market share is taking a dive at the moment.

Well, I've never used Kaspersky myself so I don't really have a dog in this fight. Having said that I don't trust it. Been using either Panda A/V or Bitdefender and they both get the job done and I have no complaints about either. I also shy away from any Chinese software too. Its not that hard to do. I prefer software from Countries a little closer to "us", the western democracy's , to software from Authoritarian states. But that's me, everyone should use whatever they want.

Hi folks
all FAKE NEWS even Donald Trump would be proud of
In any case as I've been saying for ages now -- latest updates of Windows 10 --all you need is Windows defender, Windows firewall and set your router hardware firewall to block open ports.
For home PC's the days of these A/V companies are numbered -- there's really NOTHING they offer that WD doesn't do - Corporates need other protection - but for HOME USERS all the 3rd party A/V stuff IMO is just a waste of time and hinders your machine rather than protects it in any meaningful way whatsoever.
Just use WD, apply Windows updates, take regular backups and SURF SAFELY.
Cheers

Have been using Kaspersky Free....don't waste time reading the drivel castigating it......it satisfies my need by scanning e-mails.
Have set up Defender to run in conjunction with it doing occasional scanning.

The story I posted was widely published in the UK including The Times. I only posted the Daily Mail link since it doesn;t need a subscription. The content of the Mail's story is the same as the more 'sophisticated' press.

I agree. I stopped using Kaspersky Total Security mainly because my bank no longer offers a free licence. I now use Defender plus periodic offline scans using Malwarebytes & AdwCleaner. The Kaspersky antivirus does provide some useful additional features e.g. trusted applications mode & automatic user software updates.
