    Activation after upgrade?

I updated from Windows 7 Professional N to Windows 10 Professional N successfully and I am fully activated. If I choose to re-install the OS as a fresh install from USB, will the CD key be recognized or will I need to do Windows 7 > Windows 10 all over again? I tried a fresh install of Windows 10 previous to installing Windows 7 and the cd key wasn't recognized.

It seems a massive effort to install two operating systems each time I want to format (Something I do every few months to keep the system fresh). Does anybody know if my serial key is updated in the Microsoft database to be valid on a Windows 10 install after the first install or is that unknown as of now? Cheers!

Once you've performed the upgrade successfully you should then be able to clean install 10 from installation media. If it asks for a product key during installation just skip that step and activation should go through automatically.

    Note   Note
Some people have experienced issues with activation upon clean installations, it would be best to make a system image before attempting a clean install.
