It started downloading to my laptop then quite with an error C1900200. The code does not help much. I suspect it means gives it time.
This happened to me too. I suspect this is a windows update bork. When a important windows update fails, it reappears for installation but this did not come back. Looked in GW10 icon and all it says is that my copy of W10 is reserved and will be sent to me soon. P.S. Is it BITS that has something to do with it? I am not familiar with BITS - never heard of it before.

that error code (c1900200) means you have a incompatable program installed. search Microsoft for the media creation tool. download either the 32bit or 64bit depending on your system. if your unsure what bit you have goto computer in the fileexplorer and right click the background then select properties it will tell you on there what bit operating system you have. use the media creation tool and select upgrade should redownload win10 then check your pc and will tell you what the program is and give you the option to uninstall or abort the install of win10.

Tnx - where did you find the explanation for that error code? As far as having an incompat program installed, the GW10 icon/check PC finds everything meets prerequisites but indicates that the OEM backup and recovery program will not work under W10 and will have to be removed, but I thought that was something that had to be done during the install, not before the download. Another poster suggested I disable EMET during the download - something to do with EAF and EAF+ (I did have EMET running during the download). If I use the media creation tool, should I first delete the .BT~ file that was created by the failed update? And the distribution software entries.

it was on the Microsoft site I don't remember exactly where but I was having the same error. no you don't have to delete anything it actually makes a new file called $Windows.~WS during the install with media creation it will list any incompatable programs and give you the option to uninstall then. make sure your security software is upgraded to support windows 10 all the major ones have the download on there site for free as long as you have an active subscription. should go in smooth as silk.

While the Windows 8 release had its share of defects, it was a little better than Vista (Windows 7 was essentially "Vista" simplified, so I don't count that). Given that allowance, I expect Windows 10 will need at least a year to shake out bugs. That's why it's being offered FOR FREE... so you'll help report all the issues.

Well, I can't even get it installed. My Get Windows 10 icon disappeared, and manual installs didn't work. Now the icon reappeared and I tried it again... still fails, after 1 hour of letting Microsoft try installing once more. Same error, 0xC1900101 - 0x2000C.

This morning I see that Windows Update is trying to update Windows 10 Home on my desktop not once but twice by itself through Windows Update. I am not sure why is the update failed? I will check again later to see if the update will work next time by itself. I was surprised to see that I got the update (failed twice) one day earlier than the release date -- Wednesday, July 29th (tomorrow).

This is because your PC is not an upgradable model to windows 10. The driver and software for your PC model will not be supported in windows 10 sos therefore you won't be able to upgrade.

That has nothing to do with BITS but with the software manufacturers (Intel, Qualcomm, AMD, Elan etc ) aren't providing the upgradable drivers and software to windows 10 on all the PC's.
