I tried to install 10240 on my Dell Venue 8 Pro, which had legal Windows 8.1 (home) on it. I did a clean install via iso, resulted in that Windows 10 wasnt activated, and also denied activation. Tried several keys wild on the web.
Then I re-installed Windows 8.1, activated it, run the setup from the iso from inside activated Windows 8.1, did a clean upgrade... resulted again, after boot, Windows 10 wasnt activated and couldnt be activated anymore.
Then I found this post and tried, and it worked... but now so many more questions are there. Why!? Is it legal? Will it stay activated?
I think the problem was, that the Venue 8 Pro just has a Home edition of Windows 8.1, and not a Pro. And the wild isos of 10240 all are just Pro, I couldnt find any Home edition iso at all.
But why did this trick work, with this key? I tried before another workaround posted on reddit:
** Illegal KMS REMOVED **
And the above did not work!
I dont really know what I should think now of this...
I was, and the tablet, an insider before btw several months ago. But I switched back to Windows 8.1 during the past months. This didnt seem to help anything at all, because people sayd the machines ID should have been flaged/saved on MS servers.

PSA: Now is not a good time to do a clean Windows 10 install
As build 10240 represents the build that will be distributed to OEMs and partners, albeit without some updates that are coming soon, many enthusiasts might think this would be a good time to do a clean install ahead of the official launch. But Microsoft is cautioning people to not do that, because they might lose their activation.
