Win 10 upgrade from Retail Win 7 New PC

    Hi

I currently have Win 10 from the free upgrade from a retail version of Win 7.

I have a new (used) PC that already has Win 7 installed by the previous owner.

I'd like to install Win 10 on this machine.

Do I have to install my retail Win 7 as a clean install (as I have the DVD) then upgrade?
If so where do I get the Win 10 upgrade from now it is no longer free?

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum. You can just do a clean install of 10 but you will have to buy it

So even though my current PC has win10 I cant dis-associate it and move the license to the new PC?

The current PC will be scrapped so I cant see why the license cant be moved.

If the existing Windows 7 on the new PC is fully and legitimately activated, have you tried just doing the upgrade to Windows 10? You might be pleasantly surprised. Back up the Windows 7 installation first using an imaging program like Macrium Reflect if you have an external storage location large enough to hold it.
