Windows 10 update leads to multiple issues
Unwittingly downloaded it this morning. Anyone else having these or similar issues? Any solutions?
- Apps slow to load
- Some app icons on bottom navigation bar invisible but still present
- "Settings" and other system apps won't open via search bar
- User wants to bang head on desk until senseless
- Second monitor not detected
- Default PDF program now Edge instead of Adobe (easy fix)
- Start menu won't open
Ran the command prompt via WIN + X. Log of that below:
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
C:\WINDOWS\system32>
C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Found "DELL Command Update" and downloaded 3 updates. Computer crashed during updates into a beautiful kaleidoscope display of flashing colors. Did a hard shut down of computer.
Second monitor now awake, but START menu still not working, Microsoft Edge icon still invisible, cannot access anything system-related via SEARCH.
No idea what to do about corrupt files or source files.
