No wait - it may be that it is the Reflect "download", in which case, that may not have a publisher name associated with it...not sure as I haven't installed it somewhere in a while.

    Can't update Windows 10 Anniversary-windows-smartscreen.png
This SmartScreen window happens when you're not connected to the internet and Windows can't verify a program that tries to run. That program is by Paramount Software. It should not say Unknown Publisher.
Definitely weird. I was certainly connected to the internet. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen this today when installing new programs,

That could be the reason. Once installed, the programs' executables will be recognised and smartscreen should be quiet.

So I think I'm finally done, I actually have 2 HDD's setup the same. I bit the bullet and purchased a retail version of Win10. In the next 8-12 months my son is saving up to build his own computer and he will need WIN10 anyhow, so I bought it for him. I have the following setup

    Clean Windows 10
    Avast Free
    SuperAntiSpyware Free
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (this one is saying I'm on the premium trial, I couldn't find a free download)
    CryptoPrevent
    Winpatrol

Also, I made a Macrium backup to my secondary HD using Macrium Reflect. That things pretty slick, and dang it worked quick.
    ---

For now I'm going to keep it all setup, but IDK if I will keep all of the security grid intact on my personal system. I will see how annyoing it gets, but like you said WinPatrol is definitely going to get irritating. I guess what I'm saying now is I'm ready to start personalizing my blocking scheme for my son's system unless you think there is something else I should try first. Right now, I'm not setup for dual boot either, I have to work on that later today. Right now I'm just using my sons SSD with the new WIN10 I bought. This is the one I need to setup that with anyhow. I will let you know how Dual boot works out once I finally get to that. Later.

Awesome! Tell him to come back here when he's ready to select components, and our resident guru, @essenbe, will give him some advice.

Great. Malwarebytes Anti-exploit has a free trial that you need to "uncheck" when installing. Guess you missed that. Anyways, after the trial, it should revert to the free version. Yes, Macrium is super, and you want to make sure you run backups regularly. Also, when setting up the system now, do a few mods/additions, and run a backup. Clearly state in the notes what each backup is, so you can go back to one if you need it. Once finished, set a schedule for a routine backup (like once a week, or whatever you need). Set it to retain a certain number of images (depends on how big they are, and how much room you have on your backup drive). That way, if one fails, you have more and if an infection gets backed up, you can go further back in time for a restore.

    Sounds good.

Don't forget that SAS, MBAM and CryptoPrevent need to be manually updated/run. Just having them on the system is not enough. I'd set a reminder (with Cortana?) to address them, say, once a month.

Also, not seeing anything mentioned on browser security from my previous post:
    Firefox browser as default,
with Flash and Java set to Ask to Activate,
WOT plugin for browsing safety, (if the little circle next to the search result is not green, don't go there!)
LastPass Password Manager (never save passwords in the browsers), and
another plugin which shall remain unnamed (per forum rules).
    Just sayin'...

Actually all that browser security is setup. I'm loving Lastpass. I will make sure I'm setting up everything else. I will setup the reminder.

    Cheers!

One thing for LastPass: this is how I have it setup -
    remember email only.
login only when I need to access something/login into a site.
    auto-logout after 5 minutes/auto-logout on browser close.

If something should hit you, it can take milliseconds to run malicious scripting and grab info off your computer, phoning it home to the bad guys. This is why you never save passwords in the browsers. You also want your LastPass logged out unless you are actively using it. And, if you lose your masterpassword, well, we won't go there.....

When you say remember email only, you mean only remember the passwords for my email accounts? Or only remember my email sign-in info? IDK if I can live with that. LOL, I'm pretty lazy. Haha. More likely I can't remember all the crazy passwords I need these days. It seems every site has different rules. I'm forgetting these things all the time

In the LastPass login, select remember email only, and not remember password. Plug in your LastPass master password whenever you need to use LastPass. LastPass remembers all your other passwords, so you only have to remember the master password.
