    I keep restarting the update... this time has progressed to 88% so far.. will update if it goes through.

    Need to be patient- it can sometimes take quite a while. Sounds like the .esd file has downloaded and you can always create an ISO to install if that's the case.

    You might want to check your Internet options in Control panel to see what your proxy setting is.
    click the connections tab
    click the LAN settings
    select autodetect

    Do you have enough space on your drive?, the ESD is less than 3 GB. A full install takes up less than 10 GB - this deos not include your favorite programs, only the OS.

    The last thing I can think of is to launch and elevated Command prompt and enter the following command

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    There is a space before each slash /
    It takes a while ~20 minutes.
