    Updates - Not Funtioning?

    I have laptop HP635.

    Checking available updates have showing:
    Cumulative Version 1511 KB3176493 and KB3172729 and
    Windows Malicious Software... KB890830.

Had laptop running for over 18 hours with Downloading Updates showing 0%.

There is disc activity with various figures showing in Task Manager e.g. CPU 11%, Memory 47% disk1>2% and Network 0%.
There are 49 Background processes running.

    Appreciate assistance please.

    Regards.

This is a loop corruption.....and a restart generally fixes that. Any updates that did make it through will be installed and the rest will be re-downloaded.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

Have tried restarting and a start from shutting off without success. Would cancelling these updates be any good, if so how please?

Everything should work, just run the reset script:
Use the Following tutorial to Reset Windows updates completely and check if it helps:
    Reset Windows updates
Make sure to run the script as an administrator

Is your network set as metered?
    There's a Win10.1607 bug ...

Easy test: Fire up Windows Defender and Update it manually.
When I did that, the progress bar on Windows Update (WU) changed (both updates use the same engine)

That won't help the cumulative updates though, it was only to test if Defender was able to download virus defs independent of WU

Until the bug is fixed, toggle metered connection:
    OFF to get updates
    ON to prevent updates

Guru, Many thanks for your assistance.

What is metered please? From my question you will see how much I know.

Should I revert to a previous restore first?

Did Defender definitions manual update work?
Have you run Reset Windows per Sumit Dhiman's suggestion?

    Thank you all for assistance.

I d/l Reset Windows Updates and ran the .bat file.

So far downloading is still showing 0% after one hour. There is disc activity so presumably updates are large.
    Will keep you informed.

    Regards.
