    Anniversary Update - error 0x800703ee

    Hi and greetings from Sweden!

New on the forum, long time lurker.

So my problem. Windows 10 wont update. Error code "0x800703ee". Things i have tried so far:

A while ago i had to recreate my EFI parition, perhaps it has something to do with it?
The last thing is to do a clean install, but such a hassel with all my hours of customization down the drain.

    Thank you in advance.

Hello, I had a similar error after running the windows 10 upgrader app from this link

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...setting_client

but my error message was 0x80070057 after the app had completely downloaded the update and in my search for the answer I found this microsoft answers page and used the elevated command prompt fix

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/i...6942a71?auth=1

and it simply confirmed the downloads integrity and began installing, now there's no direct evidence why it should work in your case with a different error message but I thought maybe you could try it and see if it helps since its not as major as a registry edit and since it sounds like you still have a working version of the last edition of windows 10.

Im using an internal SSD on a SATA III link in AHCI mode and a google search for just your error code comes up with problems with external storage devices, im a bit tired and cant think of what or where i always see UEFI but i think you were in a similar predicament to my own so here's what i read and listened to to help myself

    _Erni_ replied on

gpedit.msc (right-click and run as administrator!) -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Configure Automatic Updates -> Not Configured

    cmd.exe (right-click and run as administrator!) ->type gpupdate /force

    Now your windows updates work

I never bothered to change my group policy setting for automatic updates from what i had it on (notify for download & install) but it worked completely fine and almost every setting was left untouched besides the ones for apps that i had removed using powershell from my previous windows 10 build, so it sounded like it was what you were looking for.

Tried your suggestions, but they did not work. Same error as before...

Thanks for your time and effort!

Did you solve your problem? I have exact same problem; Error 0x800703ee when windows 10 tries installing 1607. I've also tried your initial steps; no luck.
