Build 10041 Update failure, two ways

The update errors from the Preview Build Update page with 0x80070241 but others have the same problem.

Tried the ESD to ISO update route but the update fails on the first reboot. I have a bunch windows updates after this failure which I'm not sure are valid either.

I have a image from a couple of days ago so I'm going to restore that and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to wait fro an official ISO to be posted.

I have done, upgrade from windows update, clean installed with kari's method, both worked but with some difficulty, now I have clean installed with this method and running smoothly, I guess MS have added "Impressive" in the image name meaning something special about this image

Method is different but maybe the finished product is the same?

Hmm, I remember seeing the "impressive" word yesterday and it might have been the ESD file still stored as is when the update fails. I restored my older image, no ESD file then, after the preview downloaded, I have the "impressive" version. I did burn a ISO but didn't try it yet. After it fails on the reboot there are a bunch of updates left waiting to be installed that may not be valid for 9926.

I installed Win 10 from a DVD just booted to it on a blank NTFS drive and the install went very smooth. I updated to rel 10041 using Windows Update without problems. On the original preview I did get a few errors but that is to be expected in a pre release build.

You did a clean install and then updated which isn't at all what fails for me. Mine failed the update to 10041 from 9926 from Windows 10 Preview Update page and three different ISOs fail on the first reboot during install.
