Chrome, that' was it ?? Odd. How so through safe mode you uninstalled it ? Saying it boot fine now and only issue is the Network adapter ? Go to Toshiba's site and look for updated Network Adapter Drivers, check in Device Manager under this Network Adapter tell me what is shows. http://support.toshiba.com/drivers
When I first powered it up, it ran Windows 10 without a hitch, can only assume the repair my friend did last night ( which didn't complete !! ) did something.....while in Windows, I uninstalled and reinstalled chrome and it worked ok.....apparently hadn't workd for ages....also uninstalled wininmage, which appeared to be a bit f a Trojan, as was difficult to uninstall...wifi working fine, but Ethernet cable not connecting....( usually a little LED flashes in the socket I thought, but nothing ) the device manager shows all ok....reinstalled drivers and chipset driver from toshiba website, but no change....puzzled
O.k. first started thread saying laptop would not load properly or was stuck after logo screen. What or how did you do this repair with ?
Not familiar with Winimage. Here i thought this issue happened right after upgrading to Windows 10, so these software's were on existing OS and a possible virus before you upgraded ? So it it only issues you feel you have now is Internet access ?
What exactly is happening when using the ethernet, no internet access at all, icon in notification area has a red X ? Right click it there and select troubleshooting, let it find any issues, can be just a setting. Best get yourself something to run a scan for malware, preferably try Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Use the Free version https://www.malwarebytes.org/
have run various antispyware programs, there is no redx.....all is reporting as OK......except message unidentified network....with Ethernet card......troubleshooting said it found a problem but could not fix it...
O.k. since i do not have the exact model except C55 for laptop was hard for me to look. I feel if drivers was not there would give exclamation point next to it in Device Manager, so must have the drivers installed. When you ran troubleshoot it detected an issue it could not fix.Can be corrupted files still or wrong settings.
Something else you can try is reset the Network adapter.Try these steps.Let me know more about the Model card and laptop and if the driver worked.
