Hi, please consider options 4 & 5 in the following:
Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Note the comment earlier that the reg file/GPO methods are inapplicable to the Home edition.

Hi dalchina, option 5 would be the only one available to me, as my pc is connected via Ethernet, but that would disable all windows updates while I only want to stop the update to version 1511 and avoid issues that many other people are having after upgrading.

Ok, this should do it- I'd forgotten it.. not needed it myself

As you say above, that's right, and good that you are aware of the potential issues - which I've not experienced bar the inevitable
    - Bitdefender needed repair
    - associations changed
    - my Win 7 icons were replaced
    and
    - system restore and location were turned off

Ok, have you considered a different approach?

    1. Use disk imaging to create an image of your current installation.
    2. Upgrade
    3. If unhappy you can revert to your current installation should you find 10586 unmanageable.

Note also that you can 'Go back to an earlier build' via Settings, Recovery within 30 days as Windows .old is created.

Or do you already know you will have unmanageable issues?

(I'm guessing that MS may take the line that problems created in 10586 will be corrected in later updates. There have been 3 since 10586, one of which was suppose to change associations back to what they were in Windows.old.

Hmm. MS changing our settings - again...)

I do have an image of my current and indeed previous installations. The stand alone Microsoft here http://www.thewindowsclub.com/block-...-in-windows-10 seems to be my solution provided it does what it says it does.

    Thanks
