I am on windows 10. Fully updated. Sorry, should have clarified that if I didn't or posted in wrong area.

    spapakons,
Yes you are correct. I have the most recent driver. This is why I do not understand why it WAS presenting another one in windows update. I was not trying to get it TO show, I was trying to get it to STOP. Here is what I did.

Go to "Devices and Printers" in control panel.
Right click your computer name under devices. Choose "Device installation settings". It will say "do you want windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices?".... choose "no let me choose what to do" and "never install driver software from windows update".

Only then did windows update STOP presenting the NVIDIA driver I did not want to install. Which it should not have been listing anyway.

As listed, in order to install the updates I wanted, it would have also installed that driver. As soon as I did this, the driver disappeared from the list of updates.

    I hope that made sense....

I apologize for the confusion I seem to have created, after I posted my Win8.1 screens about the auto auto settings!

Never thought that an UPGRADE would be such a downgrade in features that were so much a benefit for users!

I'll follow your directions for this auto update thingy! Thanks

    Cheers

That is all you have to do really, BJB ("never install driver software from windows update").
So is your issue solved now, or is there something else?

To be extra sure, I have done both this setting plus running the utility to block any unwanted driver updates. It seems one of the two is not enough, you have to do both.

I mean the Windows Update show/hide utility (wushowhide.diagcab), see this tutorial.

Hi boys... i have the same exact problems whit a my GT720........ from GeForce Experience i have been upgrade driver to latest 372.90.
At the end the installation restart my Windows 10 X64 PRO Himself and apparently the driver it's been installed but on Windows update i see a warning try to force me to INSTALL the WDDM 2.0 useless driver.

I see a warning to say to me i need to start a external installation...... and i can see a big button say "Start Installation" but i don't want to install the WDDM 2.0 because i have already installed the Nvidia originial driver...

How i can remove this installation from windows update ?

Can you post the complete name of the driver in question?

If this is the Microsoft WDDM 2.0 graphics driver then this can be beneficial. That is a basic function driver that could come in handy if you were doing diagnostic work, switching video cards (brands), etc. It would run if you were to uninstall your third party graphics instead of Standard VGA graphics driver like in Safe Mode.

BTW: Windows 10 build 1607 uses WDDM 2.1 as it's core driver.

You wouldn't want to replace your nVidia driver, of course. You just want to have the WDDM driver installed and ready if it is ever needed.

No... i can't post the complete name because there's this appears on windows update:

    • nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM2.0 - NVIDIA GeForce GT 720.

Otherwise apparently now it's disappears and my pc say all it's upgraded... i don't know if this it's overwritten my driver or if windows updates has skipped this installation because the same driver it's already installed by Nvidia GeForce Experience.
I can only test this on next release of nvidia driver........
