Found the likely cause of not being able to go back to 7

I have tried getting Win 7 back but regardless of efforts and methods used it's a no go because updates will not be found , i think the below explains why .

After reinstalling numerous times and using the SURT tool , resetting all update components and using every other troubleshooter available it's hopeless .

If MS is trying to prevent people from going back to 7 they are doing an excellent job.

    Thanks Microsoft

There is nothing wrong with your computers! The problem is a hopelessly inadequate Windows Update service. Likely it is overwhelmed sending millions of 5 gigabyte Win10 files to unwilling Win7 computers, using the same equipment and network that normally services you and I.

From Microsoft’s perspective, the updates you want are an extremely low priority. They do not want you updating Windows 7. They want you replacing it with Windows 10.

I have seen cases where the green bar continued overnight and finally found the updates, then spent many more hours downloading those updates. Stop trying to fix your computer. You are likely to make a mess of it for no benefit.

Trying to fix your computer is pointless, when the problem is your supplier. Sort of like taking a part your car's engine because it does not start, when the problem is the gas tank is empty.

Hi! Here's all I know about rolling back to W7. My advise is to always have a back up image of your OS before doing any major changes. To late for that! Give this a look! I'm sure you will get back to W7, but it might be a PITA

I have no problems getting back to 7 at all , i want a clean install not from an image and WU will not work when doing that anymore , in the past no issues but since Win 10 seems everybody attempting a clean install of 7 is having extremely long waits or it not working at all.

I have a new SSD and want to install Win 7 fresh on it , not working anymore and there's no doubt in my mind MS likes it that way .

If people did backups they would do an excellent job at going back to Windows 7.

If you are experiencing errors, it would be helpful if you provided the exact wording of the error message and possibly the error code, if present. Windows Update writes a log file inside the Windows folder - this file surely will contain helpful information on what is going on when you run Windows Update.

And allow me one note on your unsourced claims about Microsoft corporation: I don't know how it's in your country, but in mine such claims doing harm to their business can quickly become expensive. I would be very careful with things like that - especially if you cannot prove them.
