    Good, that's an improvement.

If you read the article about the update in the News section here, you can assess the risk. Also see comments following to see if anyone's mentioned a problem.

How much risk? Well, I kept 2 PCs on build 1903 for a year or more to avoid the chaos MS wreaked upon us as they made a real mess of updates to no ill effect.

Want to know more about the failure? You can try reading the update logs (there's a tutorial in the searchable Tutorials section). I suspect you'll be very fortunate if they tell you something useful.

You can try uninstalling any 3rd party security programs and a clean boot and reattempting the update...

Good to know it might not be a big problem just to avoid the bad update!! I may still do the in-place reinstall update and see if that helps, but I can always restore the image again and block the problem update. .

You could just wait 'til next month, and if next month's CU also fails, then try the in-place upgrade repair.

However, unless you 'hide' the failed update it will be repeated, probably daily.

    Your choice...

Last word for now. Before doing the in-place repair sequence, I redid these steps in order: used the reset win update script which completed and restarted the computer. The I used the hide updates .diagcab file and restarted again. This time WU showed me up to date! Guess I'll never know why they all didn't work before, but I hope that success is maintained. I'm going to close this thread and hope for the best! Once more - Thanks!

If you hid the update in question, it would seem you're up to date (nothing to do) - but your build level won't be 19045.3448 I think.

    See what happens next month...
