unable to install KB5030211 via win update or even with the ms catalog

After several tries and restarts this update failed, eventually with error 0x8007000d. I ended up downloading the update from the Microsoft update catalog. All appeared to go well, but finally there was the outcome saying the kb5030211 did not install. I am at a loss about how to continue except to wait and try again at a later date. Any better suggestions would be welcome!

    Hello @gini

In the Taskbar search box, type: winver and tell us what your build number is.

Hi, if you were to search for the error code you would find many results.

    Here's one:
    Fix: Windows 10 Update Error 0x8007000d - Appuals.com

There is a bit of an explanation of the code at the start, but such codes are NOT diagnostic in themselves.
    Rather than Option 2 see:
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

The error code is relatively common - you could also search tenforums for that.

And as Ghot asks- and that's why the forum prompted you (so we don't have to keep on asking) please provide your full Windows build number.

If no luck with the above (and preferably before trying the above), perform the following basic checks:
    a. Check your disk(s) - Hard Disk Sentinel - result right on its GUI. Includes SSDs.
    b. If ok from an admin command prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan

    c. If ok similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW
    and check it passes.

    Ghot and Dalchina,

Thank you both for replying! The computer with the problem is an Acer laptop on Win 10 H22H Build 19045.3324. I apologize for not entering this info sooner, and that laptop and the Win 11 desktop (where I write this from) were both turned off not long after my post.

It's still a long time until dawn here, but I will use the Reset Windows Update from Brink's tutorial later and update here afterwards.

I appreciate your attention and help!

Hard Disk Sentinel gave excellent results; no errors from chkdsk; SFC /SCANNOW reported "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them." Later I'll download the Reset Windows Update bat file and run that - later

Well, no success. I downloaded and ran the Reset Windows Update which just seemed to stop mid-stream and never reached the Restart instruction. I ended up doing that on my own, as I didn't know what else to do, and I was pleased to see WU ready to install two updates. The first did so quickly and soon the one for KB 5030211 began installing. That showed 100% installed not long afterwards, but then I saw the familiar " Error encountered. Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code (0x8007000D)"
Back to ground zero again, I guess. I can restore a disk image from two weeks ago, if that might circumvent the issue, Does that sound like a plausible next step?
Thanks for your continued attention and help!

Excellent that you are using disk imaging- there is of course no guarantee the problem did not arise after you created that image.

That the script stopped would suggest some problem of course- many have used it successfully.
Feel free to post under the tutorial if you think a question would help.
Do you have UAC turned off?

    You have two further possibilities:
    a. try the Windows Update repair option provided by Tweaking.com's free repair tool.
This has helped some in the past.

    b. if no luck, you can perform an in-place upgrade repair install which like any 'upgrade' keeps all progs and data
For that you need a current Win 10 iso file.
Mount the iso, open new drive letter created, double click Setup.exe

    Tutorial available.

I didn't turn off UAC, and my concern about restoring the disk image is that the problem might have existed before I ran Macrium. I will look into Tweaking.com and also consider the in-place upgrade repair. If neither works, I guess I could go to Linux, but that OS doesn't support many of the programs I like, and the Acer laptop with the problem isn't able to update to Win 11 without work-arounds.
Thanks for sticking with me and providing more suggestions!

You could try running that in sections - adding pause instructions for example- and try to identify which command fails and whether there's an error message if you wished.

I have no way of knowing if that would help you make progress though.

Still no joy. I restored the most recent Macrium image, and for a time I thought this might have solved the issue. Then I tried to catch up with the Windows updates and got to the KB5030211 again; it appeared to have installed but once more the same error message appeared. My next step is the in-place upgrade repair install. If that fails I will likely flee to Linux. Thanks again for your perseverance and help, dalchina!

Does the script for resetting Windows Update now work? (I'm not suggesting it as a solution, but am curious about its failure).
If it fails, try the sequence in Option 2, stage by stage:
    Fix: Windows 10 Update Error 0x8007000d - Appuals.com

If the problem is just one update not installing, I'd suggest you hide the update, and see what happens next month.

The other possibility is some 3rd party tool- maybe 3rd party security if any? is interfering.

You can try a clean boot, then try updating, for example. No guarantees.

Yes, the script worked just fine after the image was restored, and I use only Windows Defender. I'd hide the problem update, but does that put my network at risk?
