Looked everywhere else... and nothing, just WUMT, x86 and x64 exes and the language packs... It's the only thing I downloaded.
Dunno... Do we have the same version of WUMT? It's the only thing that comes to me right now XD

This is the only link I have to Sledgehammer but I do think you would ahve remembered if you had downlaoded it fomr there or anywhere else
Download Sledgehammer (formerly WUMT Wrapper Script) - MajorGeeks

However, perhaps you might have forgotten if you had merely found the Registry tweak mentioned online and had done that manually without downloading any utilities.

Before switching to this, I used another method that blocked WU (while miraculously kept Defender Updates), but the drawback was that I had to constantly enable or disable that patch in order to check for updates... Had also the drawback of automatic install of updates if I looked for them (when WUMT just checks for updates and you can choose what to install, what not to and even to hide updates.) As you could see on my screenshots, the group policy was untouched, and before using WUMT, I didn't have any reg tweaks... Instead I had a fix that disabled WU, except for Defender Updates... That thing apparently messed with some permissions and added some reg tweaks, but I took the time to see if there was any left over prior to using WUMT... nothing...

It totally wasn't Sledgehammer, because it was an exe file. So nope, no Sledgehammer, since that's a separate download, and it's a collection of scripts to launch WUMT, and I use the tool alone, with no scripts...

    Dunno really... XD

That comment also rings a bell from the very early days of discussions about inhibiting WU.
Our motivation at the time was that updates were coming thick and fast so it was difficult to make sure we had made system images before the next one came along.

Now that Windows 10 normally just gets
    - Patch Tuesday Cumulative updates each month, and
    - Defender definitions updates a couple of times a day
I only stick with my metered settings
    - because of habit, and
    - because my non-metered Windows 11 test computer*** keeps getting those pretty useless third Tuesday of the monthly Preview Cumulative updates and I don't want to start having them interrupting my Windows 10 computers.

*** Chosen for the job because it's not good enough for any proper use. I boot it up and have a look if I want to follow discussions in ElevenForum. It's pretty knackered, its SSD is held in with insulating tape and several other parts are also kept together with yet more tape.

    All the best,

RE: WUMT. Some settings are dependent on the version of windows that you are using. Some settings that wok in W10 Pro won't work in W10 home. Especially those that configure a group policy.

As for subkey AU - just delete it, reboot, then re-apply any Windows Update settings that you need.

    Check two places:

Well... after reading a bit in the original forum (thanks google translator) Apparently WUMT now manages Policy configurations, including if you want updates only from WU or Microsoft Update so you can update your Office installation or Net Runtime stuff...
According to the author, Defender SHOULD update by itself if updates are pushed into it, BUT, I think I'll keep that scheduled task. It's better to be safe than sorry...

The forums are in Russian, I would like them here but... dunno.

Anyways, I think that answers my questions about this utility.

    Cheers peeps!

It always has provided that WU/MSUpdate choice in its interface.
It does not affect the MSUpdate setting in WU, Advanced options but is affected by that setting.

    All the best,
    Thanks for the rep,
