Sorry for the slow reply @zbook !

The fellow wanted his computer back for the time being so I don't currently have it to go any further with the attempted upgrade. He's going to clean it up a bit and then return it to me at some point for me to try again, so I'll likely get back to this then!

I would suggest making a backup and backup the activation in case something goes wrong.

I'm thinking that you need a compatible RAID driver during install

Hey all! Bringing this thread back from the dead because I now have the PC I had tried this on back in my possession again!
@Hearsepilot - How would I uninstall the RAID driver if the disk is running in RAID? Is that possible...?

This PC seems to be from around 2012 - from the video card. Note also the small 320Gb disks. As such you may have further issues even if you successfully upgrade.

    RAID or not?
Pleae post a screenshot of Disk Management or preferably of a 3rd party partition manager.
How to Guide: Checking if a RAID is configured
A RAID config in Win 7 should be capable of being upgraded to Win 10 in principle:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-b6b1cce4ae17

Please post a screenshot of what setupdiag.exe (mentioned above) reports even though it didn't find a match.

Note there is no guarantee whatsoever of being able to resolve an upgrade failure: you could spend many days trying.

    Note:
Error CallPidGenX: PidGenX function failed on this product key. (hr = 0x8a010101)
    2023-03-15 15:06:37, Error CSI 00000001 (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #12# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation:irectRegistryProvider::SysQueryValueKey(flags = 0, key = 458 ('\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion'), vn = [l:25 ml:26]'CurrentMajorVersionNumber', kvic = 2, kvi = 2, disp = 0)[gle=0xd0000034]

    - which does not mean the product key is invalid necessarily.

Have you done basic integrity checks on the physical disk(s) (3rd party program) and filesystem as a matter or course?
E.g. Hard Disk Sentinel, chkdsk c: /scan from an admin command prompt?

Removing one drive from a RAID setup will break the booting and usually will require reinstalling. Got caught with that once.

dalchina is correct as usual but do note the successful use of the Windows 7 CoA key reported by Bree in his postscript within that thread.

Since the change, both Bree & NavyLCDR have activated Windows 10 using a Windows 7 CoA Product key.

Free Activation from Windows 7/8 key or upgrade to Windows 10/11 Ends- ElevenForum
includes the results of interesting experimentation with a Windows 7 CoA Product key by Bree in post #13.

Also reported here - Free Activation from Windows 7/8 key or upgrade to Windows 10/11 Ends - TenForums
and, by NavyLCDR, here - You have to install Windows 11 without a product key first and then activate it after it is installed - NavyLCDR post #22 - ElevenForum Bree's results & NavyLCDR's results are the same.

    All the best,
