    Power off the computer.
Remove the power adapter and battery.
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
Reconnect the power adapter and power on the computer > report the findings

Power on the computer > Power off the computer when you view the Microsoft Icon
Power on the computer again within two minutes > Power off the computer when you see the Microsoft icon
Power on the computer the third time > allow the computer to open Windows RE troubleshooting

    Try the above several times.

Report into the thread whether you were able or not able to open Windows RE.

HP ENVY Stuck In Boot Loop

Ok so I got the NVMe USB adapter and took out the drive and wiped it then put it back and reinstalled Windows and the exact same thing happened, when I went to Settings / Windows Update & Security / Check For Updates it again downloaded and tried to install the Firmware / Bios update and there was just no way to stop it from happening. I can't not do Windows updates and since this is just Windows home I can't deselect updates before they try and install. So what are my options here on trying to not have this happen over and over? FYI the update is listed as HP Inc. - Firmware 15.15.0.0.

This notebook has a non-removable battery and holding the power button down once the computer starts doesn't do anything, I held it down for 30 seconds and watched it boot / reboot / boot / reboot for the whole time; as I mentioned in my original post it's almost like after pressing the power button to turn it on all buttons are disabled while it tries to do this bios update.

    @NormAtHome

Can you try to hide the update with the WushowHide tool from Microsoft?https://download.microsoft.com/downl...owhide.diagcab

In case the option that Tekkie Boy posted does not hide the update then clean install Windows without connecting to the internet.

Restart the computer and if there are any problems post images or share links into this thread.

As a trial and error steps see if if you can launch the HP Support Assistant, connect to the internet, and allow it to find applicable BIOS and drivers.

If the above fails post images or share links into this thread.

Then clean install WIndows again without connecting to the internet.
Reboot to the BIOS by repetitively clicking F10.
View the menu options for the BIOS reset and update or rollback.
Instead of using Windows, if available, use the BIOS option to update the BIOS after connecting to the Internet via Ethernet.

    Hi @NormAtHome

Some HP devices have a special key combination to restore BIOS from a previously working state:

    1. Turn off laptop
    2. While turned off, press and hold Windows Key + B
    3. While holding, press Power button for 1-3s (do not release Windows Key + B)
    4. Release Power button while continuing to hold the combination keys
    5. HP BIOS Update screen appears (let it proceed)

Here is the official HP Support tutorial (recommended watch before attempting):

    Good luck!

Thanks, this was a good idea when I tried it I got a message that "The BIOS recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted" but after 30 seconds the computer rebooted and went to the Installing Updates screen and then was able to boot into Windows; it did say "Some Windows updates failed to install" and gave me the option to retry, now all I have to do is stop that damn Firmware update from trying to install again and that should take care of the problem.

Btw I tried in my previous posts to post a picture of the Windows update screen and for some reason it wouldn't allow me to insert that image but you can see it here: HP Windows Update.JPG - Google Drive

    Hi @NormAtHome ,

You're welcome. Sometimes there are manufacturer-specific easter eggs so it's good to know your particular brand. :)

I suspect the HP Inc Firmware 15.15.0.0 is the faulty BIOS update. To prevent WU from installing it next time, download the WU Show/Hide tool:

    https://download.microsoft.com/downl...owhide.diagcab

Now you want to run this tool instead of WU. It will check all available updates but lets you hide the ones you don't like. You can hide the update for the firmware.

I had a similar situation like yours with AMD Display because WU was getting incompatible drivers for my internal panel. I hid it with the tool and WU didn't install it again.
