    Windows 10 Insider Activation Help

Alright, awhile back I built a custom gaming PC in hopes that I would get Windows 10 for free, now that it is released, I don't get it for free, so off Amazon, I purchased a Windows 10 Home Edition Activation Key, as you know the preview is for the Pro Edition. So I need help as to what I can do, I have an activation key for WIndows 10 Home, so how can I put the full version of Windows 10 Home on my PC?

You can get an ISO here, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10 You'll need to do a clean install to switch to Home.

To get Windows 10 for free you need to do an upgrade from a qualifying OS. Its a free upgrade. Windows 7 with SP1 or Windows 8.1.

and it probably would have been cheaper to buy an OEM key for one of those....

The upgrade from an original W7/8/8.1 is free, but as you said you Built your system in the hope of of a free upgrade, NOT a hope in !!!!!

Or use what you have if you have a Retail version not currently installed on a PC. I mentioned it because some still don't release its a free upgrade. A clean install on new hardware isn't going to activate.

Can I use reset this PC? Or is their something else I need to do.
(the only way I know how to do a clean install is wipe the hard drive, then install)

Reset will just clean install Pro again. You need to wipe the hard drive and do an actual clean install to go back to Home. Or buy a Pro key.

Yes, that will work. But what will also work is this:

    1. Format the new system's boot drive and install Win7 (or 8) from the installation disk you have for your other PC
    2. Do the Win10 upgrade to the new PC. This will register your hardware configuration with MS.
    3. Format the boot disk again and do a clean install of Win10 (again). This time, when it asks you for a key, click "Skip".

Your new system will be fully activated because you just installed Win10 on a system for which MS has the hardware config on file.

(That's right - you really didn't need to buy that key. Sorry about that.)
