    Can't update WIN 10

I have been trying as far back as 8/16/20 according to my update history to install 2 updates.

KB4571756 which fails with this error code 0x800f081f

KB4566782 which fails with this error code 0x8024200d

    I'm still on version 2004 Build 19041.329

I'm aware that this has been an issue for some time now. I was just wondering
if I missed something that has fixed these issues.

    Thanks

I would make a full backup, then it's risk free to try an in-place upgrade. I will post a few links to explain momentarily ........... please stand by.

    - - - Updated - - -

To make a full backup using Macrium Reflect: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    - - - Updated - - -

Next, make a bootable Windows 10 2004 Install USB, boot from it, and select to save your personal files and apps when you get to that choice: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10

If it fails, you can restore back to the full backup image you made. All this will probably take less them than try to figure out why you're getting those errors right now, and in the process you will have have a full backup of your boot drive if you already don't.

Are you using a third-party antivirus app or are you using Windows 10's built-in antivirus app?
    (Windows Security aka Windows Defender)

Windows 10 can have issues when using a third-party antivirus app.

Windows updates failing to install is one of the primary issues.

0x800f081f has been reported a number of times with 2004 on tenforums if you care to search for it here.

As mentioned above, an in-place upgrade repair of 2004 resolved it.
Why that should be necessary.. well, that's another matter.

but we're left wondering why several have found this necessary of course. MS has to keep us amused.

Now's a good time to start a new regime of disk imaging as so much has changed- new base disk image and backup job.
