    updates and settings

    I am using W10 Version 1909 Build 18363.900

Today when I started my system it started to update and ran for 2 hours. After it finished I went to settings to see what changes were made but the settings gear icon would not open for me but it pulled up the control panel. So I can't find the updates and I have no idea what was changed. Is there another way to find out what updates were processed. Thanks

Two hours seems long for standard updates.

You could use the command Winver to see what version and build you are now on.

This article maybe of some help using powershell and command line.

How to Get a List of Installed Windows 10 Updates

I would run sfc /scannow. Not right that settings won't open.

Plus if you have access to the control Panel you can see the updates and the dates they were appplied:

OK first thanks for the answers

This is what was downloaded KB 456 0959 Security and KB 456 0960

In addition, by accident I ran the mouse over the settings gear icon it pulled up a mini settings box but it won't expand to a full page.

I tried the right click and it went away, very strange

At least it wasn't a feature update.

    What did sfc /scannow reveal?

    Those were...

    KB4560959 Servicing Stack Update Windows 10 v1903 and v1909 - June 9
    KB4560960 CU Win 10 v1903 build 18362.900 and v1909 build 18363.900

...neither of which should have taken anything like two hours, more like 10 minutes (on a bad day). The KB4560960 CU appears to have been installed, as you say you are on 18363.900.

Something must have gone badly wrong during the update though if it took two hours. Sfc /ScanNow may be able to correct the remaining problems.

    If you saw this.....

...then do it again and left-click on the mini-window. That should switch you to the open Settings window. If you still see nothing then the window location may have corrupt values and the window is positioned off the edge of your screen. One possible way to correct that is to right-click on an empty part of the taskbar and select 'Cascade windows'.

Once again thanks for your answers

When I was offline this KB 455 7957 Build 19041.329 was downloaded.

Much to my surprise I clicked on the settings icon and it opened to a full page and it functions,

Thanks for all your expertise, case closed

    Wow, not following.

You now appear to be on v2004 so it sounds like the two hour update was the feature update being installed but then it somehow wasn't complete and now it is complete.

    Glad it working.
