W10 licence transfer. What happens if I change/upgrade my PC later on?

Ahh, OK, M4v3r1ck. Since this was a thread about licensing that's what a couple of us thought you were referring to.

    1. We do clean installs because we like things....well....clean. In my case I do a lot of modifications on my phone's software so I tend to build up a lot of old software relating to that. Every now and then it's nice to just sweep all the clutter into one image file and start over.

    2. That I can understand. Especially since you have upgraded once and have gotten (I assume) a Windows 10 activation, which is supposed to remain valid unless you change a major component. Not only will Windows 10 likely improve, but software companies will start upgrading their software to work better with it as well.

Sorry for posting in a wrong thread.

I ported Windows 8 from a Mac Pro 3.1 to a Mac Pro 5.1. Due to changed hardware I called the MS helpdesk and they kindly gave me a new key. Updated to Windows 8.1 for the Windows 10 upgrade.

The upgrade to Windows 10 was a big fail for my system. I have to find a way to install Windows 10, but keeping all my apps.

Windows 10 was activated when I installed it, so no worries about that!

    Cheers

You might try updating your upgraded 10 with windows 10. It will keep your apps and settings, but reinstall Windows 10.

I had to install fresh after the update it was such a mess. Wish I would have though of this then. I have since done it to fix update issues and it worked pretty well.

    Thanks!

The problem I had was that my programs directories were emptied by the upgrade, so I don't think a reinstall of Windows 10 will bring back the apps. Best thing I can think of is to start all over again upgrading my Windows 8.1 partition. I have a solid Winclone backup scheme so I can try many times.

Wow, what a hassle this is!!!

    Cheers
