Confused about my Insider Build ...

So I have been an insider for many months and I do have the latest updates installed. This morning I DISABLED Insider Preview Builds but when I check my activation status it says "Windows 10 Pro ... Windows is activated" But I am pretty sure I am still using the insider key and not a legitimate windows key. I tried changing the key to the Windows 7 key that is on the COA on the computer but it told me it was invalid. Is there something I need to go to get a legitimate key for this system, or am I fully activated and ready to go?

    Thanks

    Hello Jdella,

You won't be able to use the Windows 7 key to activate Windows 10 with.

If you remain an insider, your current Windows 10 will remain activated. Otherwise, you'll eventually need to purchase Windows 10 or reserve your free upgrade offer before July 29th 2016.

When you upgrade with the free reserved copy from the GWX app on an activated Windows 7 or 8.1 PC, Windows 10 has a generic key included that will activate it.

If you clean or upgrade install Windows 10 without doing the above first, Windows 10 will not be activated.

Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading with free upgrade?

Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded.

Ok - Well it looks like I did not do it right. What I did was:

    1. Reserve on the Get Windows 10 App on 8.1
    2. Completely wiped and installed Insider Preview
    3. This morning opted out of Insider Builds

    So what should I do?

    - Reinstall Windows 7, activate it, then upgrade to 10 through the Get Windows 10 app when it eventually shows up?

    Thanks,
