I am an insider, I went to this page, signed in to the windows insider program, downloaded the iso of build 10162 and performed a clean install using it, activated it with the product key provided there. Still I am an insider with fast ring enabled.

To remain as an Insider, it is not a must to upgrade from a legitimate copy of windows 7/8.1, but that is needed to get the free upgrade to RTM and quit the insider program.
This begs the question, in taking the free upgrade, will it still be possible to take part in the insider programme using the same M$ Account?

Windows 10 is free and there is no service charge now or in the future.

I have two windows 7 boxes that I'm going to go RTM with, but my personal PC and laptop, the ones I use for my day to day banging around the internet, I'm going to stay insider. I love getting advance updates to hack away at before the general public.

Wow, that's actually a VERY good question. I'd love to keep going as an insider, but I have a couple of PCs that I had intended to put RTM on. Can we do that? Does anyone know the answer?

Yes, it will be possible. Just tell Microsoft you want to keep getting preview builds.

We've been over this before; let's not let it rear its ugly head again. Accusations against Microsoft have no part in this discussion.

    Update:
1 Replace MSI motherboard with new Gigabyte model.
    2 Install Win8.1
3 Drop out of insider program and move to the RTM/GA.

    Yup.. that be it.
