My computer just updated to 10074 and I can get the start menu to come up at all no matter how many times I click on it. I had a problem with the task bar on the bottom being too big but now its the right size. It seems like every update something is fixed and then also something else is screwed. Also when I do windows key +e I cant get a windows explorer window to come up either. Any suggestions?

p.s I also STILL have issue with Action Center no coming on when I click on the white icon on the bottom right!!!
I find this build to be very buggy too. But there is a way to fix stuff like that (it works for me).
Right click the Start Menu and open Command Prompt (admin). Enter the command "sfc /scannow". Let Windows do it's work and then restart. Repeat up to 3 times if necessary. Now you've got your start menu back. :)

Have you ever done Beta Testing before???

When you do an install from a DVD, the installer will give you the option, to either do an upgrade type of install, where all your old data and programs are saved.....OR, it can do a destructive install where everything from the previous install is lost.

I take one extra step and tell the installer to "Format" the C: partition, so there's NO possibility of mixing of data from one OS to the next.
I have had a clean install go slightly off course and leave me with a corrupted OS. Another Clean Install usually fixes that.

One other thing I do is to make a backup of each new build, before I install another build. Then if the latest build goes South on me, I can just restore the previous build and "Keep on Truckin' ".

There's a LOT to this Beta Testing thing, and some people are just not properly trained or prepared for it.
Those people should just leave it alone.

    Cheers mates!
I would say I didn't prepare well enough for it. I guess I will setup a recovery point on my fresh install incase I need to go back.

The latest release - Build 10074 has been out for a week or so now how come "My computer just updated to 10074"?
There are many , many threads regarding Windows 10 and the beta problems in these forums, just read them it will help!
Another thing, as TechnoMage says, make image backups before you try out new Preview releases, it will save a lot of heartache.

The thing is if you are going to try out Preview/Beta software and OS then you must expect things to go wrong. An example of this is Office 2016 Preview, I have had to re-install it several times because my email kept packing up. The main point is Backup, Backup, Backup. It will be worth it.

that would have been a very smart thing to have done.. because it most likely the win10 preview will never just become a full working win10 ,without doing a clean fresh install of win10 retail, and start from scratch .
the early win10 previews of wiin10 will no longer boot, if you didn't upgrade to the next version.

I will also add that I have had no issues at all on 2 different computers with the update to win10--10074

You could try to open an elevated command prompt ( type cmd in the search box, right click it and select run as administrator) and copy/paste this in Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth it can fix things some times.
