@Edwin ok that's much faster, I didn't think of that.
Thanks. Yeah, I guess I should of just kept reading.
But hey, my asking again got @Edwin to show us
another way to do it, so it wasn't a total loss.

it's a mess some times after reboot just after it installs updates, right now i have this Synaptics driver update for Synaptics SMBus TouchPad - Error 0x80070002

and it just freezed and gave me the error ''dpc watchdog violation'', and rebooted,\

i don't have touch pad why i have to swallow Synaptics SMBus TouchPad drivers, how i hide this synaptic pointing update from keeping to trying to install?

@BunnyJ a cheaper solution than constantly buying DVD's would be to buy a 6 or 8 GB USB thumb drive ($5 or less) and create a Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10 which is reusable for each new build and has a faster install time than DVD's especially if both the computer and USB thumb drive support USB 3.0.
They are cheap. I have 3x16 Kingston's I paid less than $50 for. Not to mention assorted 8's and 4's. You can use them over and over again. Only thing I use DVD's for are photos.

For folks using or wanting to use Classic Shell, Stardock has a trial of Start10 available. I'm using it on 10074 build and it works great.

Start8 which I use was $4.99 but I don't know what they will be charging for Start10, hopefully the same or less.

WMP won't play mkv files in build 10074.

Well, that lasted less than 24 hours. And it's already been removed. Couldn't wait to do so.

it's horrible, worse than 10061 (which sucked) and no-where near as good as 9926(?) which actually wasn't too bad. I ran it for some time quite happily, until the forced-Realtek-upgrade reared its ugly head. :-( And it's STILL there in 10074. Some of the earlier bugs have gone, but that's OK, they've replaced 'em with new ones.

Everything i disliked about the earlier builds is still there, and in some cases has been made worse. And more things have been added (how long has the Windows volume control scrolled vertically? Has it ever been a problem? No? Then why the fork change it to horizontal scrolling?). And they've given it yet another beating with the ugly-stick!

So, I've rolled-back to 8.1.1 yet again, and it looks as if I might be staying rolled-back.

If this is even close to what the RTM/retail release will be (and apparently it is) then there is NO way it will be going anywhere on my machine but into a VM.

Vista didn't deserve to fail. Neither did Win 8, and Win 8.1.1 certainly didn't.

This does. It's cobbled-together and is neither fish nor fowl (probably sheep, if truth be known).

I was quite enthusiastic about this OS in the first place (and there are still quite a few things that I do like about it), but I've only gotten less enthusiastic as the thing 'develops'. Conversely, I hated 8 at first, but as it got better, and I learned how to bend it to my will, I started to like it. Then came 8.1, which was even better, and then of course, the icing on the cake, the beautiful and functional 8.1.1

Yes, 10 will be going into a VM so I can help others with the inevitable issues. And yes, I'll be popping in from time to time with comments and advice. But it's looking more and more like the much-maligned but utterly superb 8.1.1 will end up by being MY Windows XP/7. So I'll still be active on the 7 and 8 forums.

    So sad...

    Wenda.

EDIT: I'm not trolling, and I'm obviously not a Windows-hater. But isn't feedback the objective, even if it isn't all positive?

I think they've made a big change in this build and not sorted the bugs yet. It doesn't feel very stable.

Also, they need to sort out the driver issues - either only install good drivers (which is probably impossible, especially as it's the hardware makers who write the drivers) or make it easier to stop Windows picking bad ones.

For some people, they will be lucky and Windows will automatically pick a good driver, they will be having a good experience (and may even like the design changes), and wondering what the problem is!

@Wenda I think you gave an excellent review based on what you found and what you want in an OS. And if you don't like the features in Win10 then by all means point them out and stick with a version of Windows that meets you needs.

The driver issues are almost certainly intentional. Its hard to identify them if people just keep running old drivers, they only get fixed if enough people scream about it.. and if your drivers keep getting replaced with broken ones, then scream about the broken drivers in the feedback tool so they can get fixed.

Yes, some MFGs more than other but what is worst is apparent lack of any tries with Dx12.
