    Win10 build 10061 Impressions

    - I'm honestly still not sure if my Build 10061 is buggered-up or not.

    Win10 build 10061 Impressions-17506d1429809814t-win10-build-10061-impressions-screenshot-4-.png
    - "fbl_impressive professional 10061" downloaded and installed build 10061 on my machine. Now a new update called "(TWS) fbl_impressive professional 10066" refuses to download, keeps giving me error code 0x80246017.

    - The new ''dark theme'' appears to have been enabled by default, and I honestly didn't like it. I can't find out how to re-apply the 'light theme''.

    - At first I thought my theme was messed-up, because changing classic personalization menu color/theme settings didn't change the color of my taskbar etc. Finally found how to change the taskbar to blue after some digging in the modern menus (Personalization, Colors). However it isn't very elegant. ''Show color on taskbar and Start Menu'' toggle applies it elsewhere, such as in the Notification center flyout. And, whatever color you select is applied to different elements in varying degrees of intensity. E.G. Notification Center. With 'show color on taskbar and start menu' ticked, has a blue background, blue 'toggled on' color for the boxes like tablet mode on/off, rotation lock on/off; and a slightly lighter shade of that same color for 'toggled off'. This is a lot worse than the previous build, where the background was white, the toggled off color was grey and the toggled off color was blue (or whatever your theme was set to.)

    - Possibly related, but when I have a window as the active window, the titlebar doesn't change to blue. It just stays white, as if it is a non-active window's titlebar. Very annoying, and somwhat confusing to use. I wish everything would use simillar window bordering to Office 16 pictured here (without the awful Windows Hello smiley face):

    - New 'on-screen keyboard' icon fits better into the notification tray. However it and the Notification Center/Action Center button still span two columns when the taskbar is placed vertically, and they affect how the other icons are displayed. Instead of going into a two column visual as they should, they are all in the right column, and extend the notification tray area literally halfway up the screen. Still not fixed from my 10049 Build Impressions, I still hate the new 'outline / wireframe' graphics for volume, battery and windows defender. They need to go back to the 'filled-in' white icons of Win7, or have their lines 'thicker' so they are easier to see.

    - The only major difference for me in Win10 is the automatic 'pick what fills the other half of the screen' thing that happens when you snap a window to half-screen; and the Notification Center. That said right now... I sort of like Win 8.1 a little better when it comes to using the touchscreen, than Win10's Tablet Mode. Tablet Mode just seems to have a few extra situations it affects, rather than just being a simple drag-down-to-close motion (amongst other things). I sometimes get caught in an endless loop where I pin something to one side of the screen, select what fills the other side, and the pinned item disappears. Repin, and the other side disappears etc. Tablet Mode also (at least in Build 10061) removes my pinned taskbar icons except for the start button and search button, which I never asked it to do.

    - Some things, such as editing the screen brightness and the power button, were much eaiser to acess on Win8.1's Charms bar, than digging into modern PC Settings/Display sub menus, or on the Win10 Start Menu.

    I had a brief look at 10061.

    The good of 10061:

    • The download and installation was done in a reasonable time. Not a repeat of the 10049 disaster
    • They fixed more of the high contrast theme. A few places still need to be done

    The bad if 10061

    • The power button is still in that unfortunate place
    • Most of my taskbar was blackened. The tasktray is still my color
    • I now get an "Important" security message to sign into the Microsoft account. This is a local account installation. What's so important for security about the Microsoft account.

    I was not so fortunate.
Upgrade to 10049 took 11 hours. This one took over 15 hours on MS account.
    One notification.... set up OneDrive......
Start page text and Mail text looks like it was typed on Wynona's old manual typewriter with a bad ribbon. Cruddy looking page.
This was on my 64 bit version.............. I'm gonna leave the 32bit version alone............ it takes too long to have fun!

Wolfgang why don't you just turn off messages about Microsoft Account?

Cliff, of course I can turn off that message. But I wonder what is the hidden agenda. Is there a real security issue or are they just making that up to bug me.

The latter probably. It's almost like when some(not all) free programs have pop-ups to "Upgrade now to the Pro version to unlock more utilities!!! click the Devil here."

I wonder why your experience was so much different than mine. I did the download yesterday night between 10PM and 11PM EST on a pretty slow line (17Mb/sec). The download was done in about 40 minutes and it was disadvantaged because I made an image of 10049 at the same time and there was a lot of contention on the disk. The installation itself took about 25 minutes.
