They want to test the upgrade process, so initially they make that the only "official" option. If you want an ISO from official sources you have to wait. 10041 isn't even up on MSDN yet. It's still listing build 9926 for download. If you click download on that Microsoft link, the file name will give you the build number.

right now I am upgrading to it thru the Fast Track. so far looks good.
I did a vm install of 10049 using Ubuntu as the host. started out I could not get the start menu to come up and after a few attempts I now have cortana and spartan somewhat functional.

Wow, I hadn't thought of that yet, Alpha. But I'm enough of a glutton for punishment that I'll upgrade first and then when the Slow Ring shows up with an ISO, I'll do the clean install.

BTW, after installing the Slow Ring ISO of 10041, I found when 10049 showed up that I had been bumped back down to "Slow" and had to change it back to "Fast".

Did you mean to say 10049 and not 10041? 10041 ISO is available on the Windows Insiders page.

No I'm referring to MSDN downloads, 9926 is the latest ISO listed on MSDN. Yes 10041 is available on the insiders page, that's where I got my ISO to do my clean install.

I got my iso a bit differently. I needed only 2 clicks and the ESD to ISO conversion was done in 6 minutes. If you are interested to see the process and the tool to do it yourself, download my little tut from my OneDrive.
Tried to look at the video but clicking on START VIDEO does nothing. I'm using Foxit PDF Reader, not Adobe. Is that why?
Can you make the video available as a separate download on your OneDrive account?

After some tweak 10049 is working quite nice. It's not so stable as 9926, but except for some games that refuse to run and a memory error when I hibernate, all goes fine !

Spartan is fair for an on-going project... It's quite fast but some bugs do annoy me, specially posting in forums.

    For a preview... I'd say it's 7 in 10 !

    :)

On Foxit you have to have the 'hand', else it won't start (e.g. with the arrow pointer). But here is the direct YouTube link:
